Screenwriting is a story
told in pictures and it is very different to novel or short story writing. In six straightforward online lessons
this course will help the budding screenwriter to grasp the basics of screenwriting. The course will also help them
to identify the major film genres, from Romantic Comedy to Action Adventure, Horror movie, Family Film, Historical
and Comedy and to understand the essential tools of the screenwriter's craft including Character Creation, Visual
Writing, The Three Act Structure. Narrative Structure and Plot Points and Dialogue as well as how to write a
Logline and a Treatment for your film.
Each week's lesson will include an email lecture,
Web reading recommendations and activities including scene writing assignments to be submitted for tutor
review.
At the end of this course participants who take
advantage of all assignments will have created character biogs, written several key scenes from their film,
developed a story structure including the major plot points and penned a treatment and
logline.
