- Almost 10,000 new romance titles are released each year.
- Romance fiction sales are estimated at $1.358 billion for 2010.
- For the romance writer, there are a large variety of publishers who specialise in romance. And a large range of sub-genre’s in the romance genre.
Writing Romance is a one-to-one, online course focusing on the elements needed to write a romance novel. Through a series of weekly lessons and homework assignments, you will learn about targeting a publisher, character, conflict, plotting, creating a book outline, dialogue, sensuality, hooks, and creating a query letter.
The aim of the course is not only to introduce these key concepts, but also, through homework assignments, to ensure that you put them into use. The course will be tailored to you, and either a pre-existing idea or a new one will be worked on through the course, with feedback all along the way.
At the end of the course you will have two key characters developed, your story idea, the inciting incident, turning points, black moment and resolution worked out, and will have completed the first chapter and had it critiqued. We will also work on a query letter for your manuscript.
